To provide access to quality health care for veterans living in the North Central Washington region, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs established a new outpatient clinic in the Wenatchee area, which opened in 2007.

The VA Medical Center provides primary and secondary care to veterans, with emphasis on preventive health and chronic disease management.

In its Spokane location, the VA Medical Center operates 46 hospital beds and 38 rehabilitation-oriented nursing home beds. In addition, a mobile clinic, outfitted with two exam rooms, provides selected primary care services to veterans living in remote areas outside the metropolitan Spokane area.

Two community-based outpatient clinics are operated by the VA Medical Center in Coeur d’Alene and Wenatchee.Spokane is responsible for coordinating access to the full health care benefits package for enrolled veterans. To this end, the Spokane VA Medical Center coordinates referrals to the VA Puget Sound Health Care System and Portland VA Medical Center for tertiary care, as well as utilizing community health care resources.
